2007-11-26 21:01:00 | Warning Warning Warning Don't do anything. All your ideas are daft and dangerous. Why? ONE Radios should be banned in cars - OK I know it is impossible now as too many people have them. There are even shots which have appeared on TV showing accidents actually happening as the driver was changing the tape, tuning to another station etc. My last car had a radio. The tape player has been used once - to make sure it worked. The radio was never used when I was driving. Supposedly above average intelligence I still need 100% of my concentration when in charge of a vehicle. My present car has a defective radio so it is virtually impossible to use it anytime. Suits me fine. TWO The talk of adding bass. Yee gods I can even hear some of these cars so equipped as they pass my study (overlooking a main road). These poor sods don't realise what they are doing to themselves. When they are my age (if ever they make it) then they will be more deaf than I am - it is distressing. The damage can be caused by just a few minutes of over loud sounds. The effects are not noticeable until about 10 years have gone by, and then its too late. Yes I am badly affected but it is through firing very noisy guns over 50 years ago when in the army and later on because of working in a very noisy factory. Stupid behaviour but we didn't know any better in those days. But check on the figures - you will be surprised at how low the noise levels need to be to damage those delightful pretty little ears you have. Tom

2007-11-26 21:57:00 | VTNZ...... bunch of monkeys that wouldn't know steel from rust ! i know a few people who have had vechiles with major strucal defects that where passed by VTNZ only to be put off the road when the defects where found later on. of course certain family members take their poorly maintained vechiles there for a reason ;)

2007-11-26 22:03:00 | Hmm ok.... I just go there because it's cheap and easy, and they aren't a garage (eg, won't find problems where there aren't any, because they can't repair them, and seem to give you a pretty honest run down of whats happening with your car). I know my car is perfectly safe, and I wouldn't drive a car on the road that wasn't so. I think I will keep using VTNZ, but thanks for the insight!! :p

2007-11-26 23:12:00 | I dont work for VTNZ (they dont know their arses from their elbows), and I take pride in my work, the wof test is performed as proscribed by Land Transport, no more/no less. To do otherwise would mean the loss of my wof authority and my job! Thomas01: relax mate, you'll have a coronary.

2007-11-27 04:08:00 | I recall reading somewhere (a long time ago - can't remember where) that having quiet music on while driving actually improves your concentration. Too quiet is distracting & too loud is dangerous, but there is a good middle ground.
