614766 2007-11-24 23:36:00 It means an excuse for oil prices to rise now because of a weak US dollar and an excuse later on down the line for prices to rise even more over here when the US dollar recovers. NZ$2 a litre here we come. legod (4626)

614768 2007-11-25 00:04:00 A really big problem is the amount of US greenbacks that China has . If they cash them in, this place is bankrupt .

As the most indebted nation, the US will die a lingering death if these balances cannot get back to somewhat normal values . I don't see that happening .

As I said before the US administration and the fed reserve should be shot for allowing that to happen to the extent that it has .

No country can stand things for ever with those imbalances .

I'm sure we'll see $3 a litre and higher in the not too distant future.
I say $2 a litre very soon as no doubt the govt here are planning to slap on extra taxes all in the name of global warming. Then there's the 10c a litre for Auckland's roads and the 'to offset inflation' BS.
