2007-11-25 03:47:00 | So did I.....felt robbed when they didn't! :p We went thru detectors at Wgtn, Akl and Nadi in Fiji. Nothing. But then...they are all calibrated differently. It's possible others especially in the US could be a lot more sensitive. Ha ha, damn, I was looking forward to setting them off with my arm :D True

2007-11-26 08:05:00 | Yeah - I know how that feels. MSN and Email are saviours at times. I had my appendix out last year, was feeling crook and vomiting every few hours for about a week, got so 'sick' of it, lol. I went and saw the doctor. First time I've ever seen a doctor for anything apart from broken limbs. Got the cold rubber glove, 20 seconds later he said for me to get my butt to the hospital ASAP. A lovely young lady, just out of med school did the operation, I wasn't sure if I was happy or worried about that, in the end I decided I was happy. No worries with a nice looking young lady slicing me up.  Apparently I was just in time, they reckoned it was really close to bursting. A whole 10 days I was off work. Not being able to do anything drove me absolutely nutty. Never felt such bad pain before, I really should have seen the doctor a lot earlier. Everything is so much clearer in hindsight.. :p Morphine is good ****. :D Waking up after the anesthetic was not nice....but it was the best sleep I've had in years though. Felt very rested, I'd like to invest in one of those gassing thingies.

2007-11-26 18:55:00 | Sad as it was I was keeping in touch with work while I was recovering after me op, I was that out-of-it on these green and white pills I told the boss "could you pick up a steak on the way home and get what ever wine you feel like, the girls were ringing for you too". His wife read it for him:blush:  luckily she has a sense of humour!

2007-11-26 19:21:00 | wratterus - Yeah, after a day it would have been best to see someone :p Ha ha, it is always good getting looked after by nice looking nurces and doctors :D I didn't like the anesthetic either... everytime I had a sip of water for about 2 hours after waking up, the water came right back up... Horrible! :yuck: rob_on_guitar - Ha ha ha, Lucky the boss wasn't a lady, else you might have caused a scene :p

2007-11-27 00:30:00 | Doesn't set them off. Someone I know has the same metal pin in her ankle....been through numerous airport scanners at Int'l airports and nothing. Even in the "everyone's a terrorist" environment we live in.Depends on the airport. My trip to Europe last year I was disappointed that the titanium wire in my chest (from a triple bypass in 2004) didn't set anything off in Auckland, Sydney, Singapore (coins in my pocket did!), but coming back, just after the UK/USA kerfuffle in August, when everything got locked down, I got wanded leaving via Frankfurt and the alarms went off. Pulled up my T-shirt and showed the scar, the Customs guys had a chuckle and waved me though. So they had obviously increased the sensitivity on their gear. Still didn't get stopped on the homeward leg in Singapore or Sydney, so maybe it was a localised increase in security... But yes, titanium WILL get picked up if they are looking for it! As far as metalware goes - from my cycling 'accident' in June (forums.pcworld.co.nz) I have a couple of plates in my shoulder (www.imagef1.net.nz) (you can see the titanium wire in this X-ray)
