777074 2009-05-27 12:00:00 just be thankful you didn't get this problem with Vodafone. :)

I agree with that statement. Have a client with Vodafone with same speeds as this poster. After 2-3 month issue hasn't been resolved and they blame Telecom for overloading the ports, but this would affect others which isn't the case. I say a dying port but no one listening.

777075 2009-05-27 14:25:00 Its not specifically the "port", it seems a bit early to jump to that conclusion, however it'd be fair to say that the distance from exchange is a probable cause. An overloaded exchange should still give better speeds down than that, hence why I'd suggest distance.

Try this:
Grab WinMTR from here: http://winmtr.sourceforge.net
Let it run through about 50 instances and post back here with the results.

Also, what is the make and model of your DSL Modems? Do any of them tell you the speed that you're sync'ing with the exchange at?

Both are a D-link DSL-502T Gen 2. And I wouldn't have a clue about the sync'ing part.

Here is a screenshot from one of my routers (504T) - it's quite important to know what the actual line/sync speeds are.

Just had both Orcon and TS go down here, back now, apparently a digger driver got a bit eager. :p

777078 2009-05-28 01:28:00 This is what my modem shows:

Another problem to add. I've noticed this morning so far, the connection has been dropping a lot. Only for like 10 seconds, but it's happening often.

777079 2009-05-28 01:30:00 Hmm, well the line speed definintley isn't anything to write home about, but you should be getting better download speeds than you are. That's all I get at home, and I can download at over 250kbps no hassle.

Is that speed the same in both routers?

Can you find a tab like this one in your router?

777081 2009-05-28 01:35:00 Woah, well that 2nd one is way worse.

3mbit vs 64k.

Is there any way you could get your hands on an ADSL router you know is working ok?
wratterus (105)
777082 2009-05-28 01:36:00 Curiously, I've noticed that with the second one, I don't get the connection dropping constantly like the other one. Bling (12929)
777083 2009-05-28 01:41:00 It's a bit odd that's for sure.

With today's developments, I'm a little suspect of your router(s), but it could just as easily be line/exchange.

Would be quite good to test it with a different ADSL router you know is working, or at least test yours somewhere else.
