I don't know how you set up your dual boot Jack, definiltley some odd issues going on there.

So with the dual boot I do wonder if Jack is trying to run programs installed under one O/S under another O/S?

I dual boot WinXP with Win7 and use FlightSim 2004 under both.

But I don't run Win7 then access the exe for FlightSim I installed under WinXP for example.

Neither do I ! I installed two copies of FSX. One under each o/s.
But when I shut down program files are put in wrong version.

Anyway I have that sorted now.Deleted XP and run only 7 64 bit with no problems.
And I still think dual booting is stupid and not worth the effort.

Jack. You can think what you like.

Some people dual boot for a reason which seems to escape you.
Driver issues come to mind for example.

A person I know has a flatbed (very expensive) scanner which worked under Win98SE and he wanted to upgrade to WinXP and he did not want to buy a new scanner.

No drivers available for the scanner under WinXP even now but it still works on his dual boot system.

Maybe you set up a DUEL boot system rather than a DUAL boot system!
Duel means something different to dual as in two separate installations.

Two operating systems on one partition is a recipe for failure for example.
