776643 2009-05-25 02:13:00 ok got that to work & have started saving data but the transfer speed is snail pace.
I suspect there are problems with the HD, I can usually move data at 10 times that.
Woops now the errors have started "error 0x8007045D"

776644 2009-05-25 02:17:00 Looks like a Vista prob (itprosecure.com). Dont know if youre using ultimate, it may or may not apply Speedy Gonzales (78)
776645 2009-05-25 02:43:00 Vista home premium.
I wasn't using the backup procedure, just copying the folders direct.
I've tryed several folders, same result.
I'll try it on XP & see if it's different.

776646 2009-05-25 02:51:00 Well its the same error. I wouldnt bother copying programs / their folders. They probably wont work. You'll have to reinstall them. Just copy docs / main install files for whatever across Speedy Gonzales (78)
776647 2009-05-25 02:56:00 I'm trying to save Users, a music folder & a picture folder, but it all adds up to around 35GB
This laptop is a Vista system by the way

776648 2009-05-25 03:19:00 XP is not much different.
Hooked it all up.
Started with the music folder 7.5GB.
Starts off ok, comes up with the estimated time of 12 minutes.
Progress bar shows & the moving files animation is happening but it's still showing the first file to be copied. After a couple of minutes it comes up with a could not copy error. Sorry didn't write it down.
Also the HD is grunting at this stage.

It was ok until phase 4 then started grunting & wouldn't go any further.
