General comments
How did you find the install?
Best. Windows. Install. Ever. 20min from start to finish, and no issues, headaches, or heck much of anything to do.

Things you like.
Interface seems more responsive than Vista, while increasing functionality. Fantastic performance. New system tray method.

Things you don't like.
Having to manually toggle between audio devices, including front/rear jacks. Grr. Action Center icon has to be mucked about with a fair bit to shut it up.

Things you'd like to see in the final release?More controllable audio output. Ability to stream to all audio devices like XP could.

Things you like. I will upgrade to Win7 when it is released. What is not to like?

Things you don't like. One or two very minor niggles but I found ways around them or others have for me already via Technet etc.

Things you'd like to see in the final release?
Yep. A programming language which would come up with a compiled exe for any platform provided you learn the syntax and you do not get logic errors.

I don't think that Win7 is for everyone much like any other operating system.

I guess my point is, that I started with MSDos version 3.3 and eventually got to where I am now. One difference there was that most versions of MSdos came came with the GWBasic interpreter rather than a compiler and I remember making programs in COBOL on one of my early systems.

I still have a copy of MS Flight Sim 1.0 which I bought with MSDos 5.
One floppy as opposed to 4 CD's for Fight Sim 2004.

Windows 3.11 came on 7-8 floppies
A version of Win 95 came on heaps of floppies.

The only major reason for me to change would be to go to an operating system which would allow me to use more ram on any application or game I want to run.

I am aware that you can run all sorts under VMs but this would not be for the average user in my humble opinion.

Go figure!

The operating system only allows you run various applications.

In the event you can't get drivers for the hardware then you have a problem as I did with the printer listed above

Plugged in the other printer Canon ip 4600 and I can print.

Currently running Win 7 32 bit dual booting with Win XP Pro 64 bit. The Win XP 64 bit can use both printers.

776447 2009-05-25 21:27:00 You wont get OE in Vista or Win7. Thats one thing you wont get or see in the final release. You'll have to live with Outlook / Windows mail / something else Speedy Gonzales (78)
776448 2009-05-25 22:47:00 I recieved the Windows7 disc on PC World magazine and installed manually (Upgradeded from Vista Home Basic) It took a while but my involvement was only required about 3 times I think. So very nice to install. According to the Disc sleeve information, I should check a microsoft website to recieve the registration number to get me through till 2010 June. I couldn't access the internet because I was installyng the software still so I just entered nothing and the whole process carried on. I'm not sure whether It will still expire June 2010. kountryken (14110)
776449 2009-05-25 22:50:00 It will still expire. You should have installed it on another partition. You'll have to reinstall Vista after (or wait till the final comes out), if you buy it Speedy Gonzales (78)
776450 2009-05-25 22:58:00  So they havn't sorted out multiple streaming...thats probably the main thing that annoyed me about Vista. It's such a simple thing, but causes massive amounts of annoyance when it doesn't work. Will be very dissapointed if this isn't changed in the final release. :xmouth: wratterus (105)

TONS of eye candy but not a lot that Ubuntu has not been doing for a long time at no cost.
