| 615541 | 2007-11-27 00:56:00 | Hi guys I just wonder whether I am wrong or sick or something - I've got no wish to belong to any FaceBook, BeBo or any such social web. I also see more and more of these sites starting up, so obviously they are fulfilling a need :confused: I did IRC about 10 years ago but with the early IRC virii and problems gave that up loooooong ago. sarel |

| 615542 | 2007-11-27 01:20:00 | I might have once when I was new to the web joined something like that but now-a-days the only type of social stuff I do on the web is here and there on comp message boards......I hardly even use messenger anymore......jsut not into it but I have friends who do it all the time.......... different strokes....... |

| 615544 | 2007-11-27 01:28:00 | Things have changed in IRC. There's not many virii floating around now. You're right there were HEAPS of virii, and a lot were autosending. Altho, this may depend on WHAT server you log into. It may also depend on WHAT IRC client program u use. I would say its safer than IM programs, like MSN and Yahoo Messenger. I've been around in IRC since 95 - 96. Actually, I'm in IRC at the mo. I dont worry about IM messengers, or sites like Bebo either IRC is good enough, and I've got plenty of people to chat to. Some of these social networking sites are frequented by weirdos / pedophiles etc. So hopefully, people are CAUTIOUS of WHAT they put on these sites. |

While being off work so far this week (unfortunately I can't climb the walls as I can only use my left arm! :p ) I have been surfing the net a lot and I am amazed at the amount of information you can find on people with profiles on those sites... :xmouth: |
