615451 2007-11-26 16:56:00 Youse guys get a warm Xmas..but I guess youse all go to Auntie's, Mum's or some other relatives or friends for the hoolidaze.

As the tech experts youse all are, do you arrive with your tools and help repair and fix their puters?

Scene ONE: "X" <child of..insert relative here> has just gotten a puter and immediately put it on line. No security, no firewalls....no nuttin'. All it gets now is a nice blue screen. It's YOU to the rescue..right?

Scene TWO: Grandpa X hates new-fangled things and whacking the keyboard with his cane has somehow rewritten the BIOS. Do you help?

Scene THREE: Your <girlfriend. girlfriend's girlfriend, girlfriend's father, pick one> has a problem with that "cute little" Bonzi Buddy or Weather Bug jumping all over the screen. Ya can't NOT afford to help..right?

Whattcha gonna do? :D

What IT tools do you carry when you meet the "outta-towners" and peeps this year?

Would be a large Sledge Hammer, although I too am not going any where. PCs still break over christmas, servers die... etc etc.

Ah then...sorry that you is an orphan.......:D

I'm not an Xmass'r for reasons that youse guys know...but I was just wonderin' if you had the same problems with relatives, friends, relative friends or friends of relatives like I do.

Seems that if I don't carry a crash box full of mystical tools and toys, I don't get invited back for din-din again. I like din-din.

I carry a copy of MagicJellyBean and Belarc on a USB pen drive..and with that and a license/key number I can usually fix a lot of things.

One thing I do is install Norton..I know..it's the rat's worst..but I can get a quick download of the trial version for it really quick and at least get the system back up and running.

Later on I get rid of Snorton and put the good stuff in....but that's for another meal and an invite.

Always leave them wantin' more..my motto.
