614813 2007-11-24 23:39:00 There's a new (and legal) site running in ßeta right now . It subscriptions won't be available outside of the US yet . . soon, but not yet . It's supposed to replace YouTube .

Anyway . . there's a blog portion on the site that offers viewing on one of the all-time great TV shows . . Hill Street Blues . . . . with or without a subscription . Get to that blog part and click on the Hill Street Blues start arrow on the viewer .

The video quality is very good . . the sound is powerful and I detect it is in stereo on Audacity as I see two distinct recording levels . It's in the new HD format/ratio wide screen .

They say it's a good way to show first-run movies and stuff because it's not download-able . . but streaming and secure . We'll see later!

I hope you can see it as there doesn't seem to be any need to be signed up to watch this teaser .

OK . . . there are some small Intel advertisements on it . . but they too are tasteful and short . . . like 16 seconds or so . The commercial breaks appear to be where the original breaks were too .

This isn't out for general consumption yet, and even I cannot subscribe to it yet . I am on the list as a ßeta tester and will be able to see everything as soon as it's up and running .

Here's the link . . enjoy . . hopefully . (http://blog . hulu . com)

Let me know .

614816 2007-11-25 01:14:00 Here's a C/P from the site for youse guys for later on:

"One of the questions that we've been asked many times the past week is if the service will be available outside the United States . Today, the service is a U . S . service only . That said, our intention is to make Hulu's growing content lineup available worldwide . Given that this requires clearing the rights for each show or film in each specific geography, it will take time . In no uncertain terms, the Hulu team is committed to making great programming available across the globe . I've been very encouraged by how many content providers have already been working along these lines so that their programs can be available over the internet to a much larger, global audience . There's a lot of important work still to be done .

We also recognize that a free, streaming online video service is just the first step in our mission to deliver premium content when, where and how you want it . We won't stop innovating in the pursuit of this mission .

We'll keep you updated on our progress throughout the beta on this team blog . "

614817 2007-11-25 22:50:00 I suspect Joe that this sort of stuff will never happen in our life time judging by the paranoia of the US entertaiment industry..

By the way. Got a Vudu yet??
