So far 36 homes gone, 1500+acres, 1 fireman severely injured . 6 Hours old and all that damage so far . Fire started at about 3AM with intense high winds . The firefighters were set on RED alert when the weather guessers predicted Nor'Easters which to us are cold winds from Colorado, Montana, Wyoming etc . So far Hemet/San Jacinto hasn't had a leaf move in any wind at all . Dead calm here, although all around us there's a lot of wind reported . | 614740 | 2007-11-25 06:26:00 | The fires are apparently the act of arson.... This has been decided as there was a rave party there and when it broke up at 3AM, the fires followed. Big rewards for the culprits. |

Whilst we don't necessarily do the same as you'se do we make a lot of reference to your techniques and policies.Fire is fire but we do things a little different here because we don't have to deal with the same ground scale that you have over there. | joemac (9739) | ||

| 614743 | 2007-11-25 17:28:00 | Interesting point is that we have quite a few TV stations in the greater LA area . . . one, Channel 5 (KTLA) is more of a celebrities news station . If it harms or causes grief to a movie or TV star, then it gets a lot of press time . Most of the coverage from that station is about all the celebrities (Flea, Don Henley, Cher . . etc) who have suffered massive losses to their humble 200 bedroom abodes . They are spending so much time trying to interview them that they totally miss the real people who live there . Guess who's complaining the most about the poor response to the fires by the fire companies? Yup . . the smarmy stars . Actually the fire companies were all staged and waiting for the first flames and were on the scene almost immediately . Too bad a few mansions went up . . they are insured . Funny enough was the fact that one of those Hollywooders was responsible for the rave party that set the fire . |
