| 777115 | 2009-05-26 22:10:00 | We are wanting to use Gmail for a seniors group email course using Vista and borrowed wireless from a good neighbor we dont have our own ISP at the site. Not having any joy in getting it set up in spite of using the identical settings to my home PC (XP). Do you have to go through an ISP to access Gmail or is this just Vista and Windows mail causing probs?! Many thanks |

| 777117 | 2009-05-26 22:38:00 | Can you access the internet on the PC you are using? Is your problem that you cant access the internet? If you can access the internet are you saying that you cant go to www.gmail.com? I assume that you realise that you can access your gmail via a web browser. If you can access the internet and can go to www.gmail.com are you saying that you cant get windows mail to connect to the gmail mail server? Sorry - Just trying to clarify where the problem lies. |

| 777118 | 2009-05-26 23:38:00 | There will need to be an ISP involved somewhere, as you'll need an internet connection. You mentioned using a neighbour's wireless connection - so you can access the internet? | inphinity (7274) | ||

| 777121 | 2009-05-27 00:32:00 | If it's about configuration/transfer set up between Gmail/Windows mail, then I think there's a import function in Gmail, but could take time, through the Google servers. Here's a scenario, but using Yahoo Mail (www.labnol.org). There's also a free transfer service called "TrueSwitch (www.labnol.org)" (Tutorial) that may help... | kahawai chaser (3545) | ||
