617301 2007-12-02 05:39:00 Does anyone have any tips on advertising a website specifically to New Zealanders (a product selling website)?

I would be happy spending $100-200 a month for a solution that worked well, but wouldn't like to put too much money up upfront before getting a feel for the results I can get from it.

I am open to non-online advertising methods too.

I've tried Google AdWords, but can't seem to pay less than about $0.65 a click, which is expensive. I've had it running for a while and have paid $30 so far for 47 clicks which is pretty ridiculous, right?

617302 2007-12-02 06:35:00 Get other sites that relate to yours, but not compete to link to you. And you do the same plod (107)
617303 2007-12-02 06:41:00 Hi George

The best way to promote a site is to submit it to Search Engines like Google etc....

Also you need to make sure you have good Meta tags and a search engine friendly website as if you don’t have neither of those you wont have much luck with them.

If you would like a list of NZ Search engines to submit this site to or would like more info PM me :)

Hope this helps :)

617305 2007-12-02 07:06:00 George - I can't help much with non-online advertising ideas, but as I assume you're not competing with my business (website creation and hosting) if you PM me the url of your site I'll give you a free basic SEO (search engine optimisation) report as a favour. Greg (193)

I already do pretty well in search engines I think. Eg, if you search for "ex lease PCs wellington" or "computer repairs wellington" I'll be on the first page.

It could be better, as I don't want people to have to specify Wellington for anything but computer repairs, but I am listed.

Hi,

Thanks - PMd.

It may be worthy of noting that my Trade Me account currently costs about $400 a month to run, and this could be replaced entirely by enough people coming to my own site. A few hundred visitors a week could well do that.

617308 2007-12-02 07:41:00 Are you looking for any criticism on your site? plod (107)

I'm just not sure if I'm allowed to post the address here....

Well I googled it so it's not hard to find.
I have just two points, both in your terms of service. Under pricing, it reads like it was written by a 13 year old for 13 year old. And under Payment, the last couple of lines reads a bit unprofessional if not bordering on threatening, not that I would be threatened by it:2cents:
