777776 2009-05-29 01:11:00 Yello, I had a test version of windows 7 installed, after it came up as not genuine I removed it by formatting the drive it was on, now when I start up the PC, I still have the option of starting W7 or XP.
How do I remove this option and boot straight into Xp? TIA, Whenu

777779 2009-05-29 03:06:00 Tried seaching for BCDedit but no luck, would that only be in W7 or Vista?.
XP is the operating system

777780 2009-05-29 04:24:00 If the boot loader has changed back to XP's, then just edit the boot.ini from system>advance>start up>setting and edit the line to remove the 2nd drive and o/s choice SolMiester (139)
777781 2009-05-29 04:33:00 You could run fixmbr from the recovery consol, accessed via booting from the XP CD then pressing R. Rob99 (151)
777782 2009-05-29 05:02:00 Solmeister, I've compared the boot.ini file with another XP system and the settings are both the same.
Have copied the boot file

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /FASTDETECT

cheers

777783 2009-05-29 05:37:00 I'd say you run fixboot using the Recovery Console (with WinXP CD), then the boot menu will be in XP style. LynX (14542)
777784 2009-05-29 07:10:00 Huh? why all the fuss?

Run>msconfig>boot.ini tab>check all boot paths

777785 2009-05-29 07:47:00 Download EasyBCD, install & run it. Delete the Windows 7 bootloader and everything should be back to normal. kamo1 (14583)
