| 777619 | 2009-05-28 04:48:00 | Hi I've searched the archive in vain so please excuse if this has been covered before. A pop-up box has appreared on my desktop this AM referring to problems with MS Office 2007. I've pressed one button after another and gone round in circles. Have also searched the internet to look for solutions but, frankly, an easily confused with the instructions. The initial box reads - The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package HomeStudentrWW.msi in the box below. So the box below has the following two options (the top on in default position) C:\MSOCache\All Users\{91120000-002F-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}-C\ and Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 If I press Cancel in that box I get the following Error 1706:Setup cannot find the required files> Check your connections to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem see SETUP.CHM On the other hand if I press the OK button I get the following The path C:\ MSOCache\AllUsers\{91120000-002F-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}-C\HomeStudentrWW.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package HomeStudentrWW.msi in a folder from which you can install the product Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 And so we go in circles. It hasn't prevented me using MS Office but it is a nuisance and slows things down and has to go. So, my question now is, is it likely that just uninstalling and reinstalling the MS Office programme will fix the problem? Has anyone had experience of trying that? I'm presuming that, if I do that, it will not affect any documents, etc. Or is there something else I can do which can be explained simply? Any advice gladly received. thanks so much. |

Also this article here (en.kioskea.net) also explains it a bit more. Edited: the article is for office XP , but the same fix is for 2007 Sometimes this can also happen, if when you first install Office 2007 - you select to delete the install files at the end. best remedy I have found, since its only H&S - uninstall the program, then reinstall it again. If you can open word - go to File( orb up top) Word Options/ Resources/Run Diagnostics -- Mind you if the Install files have been deleted it may not work. |

During installation you can choose to delete installation files and if you did this then there won't be the files stored on the hard drive. You can do an express install in which case not all of Office will be installed and you then go to use part of Office wich now wants to install features which were not installed as part of the original installation. If you re-install use a custom installation and install all of it unless you are seriously short of hard drive space. Do it that way and delete the installion files and then when you use a feature it will be installed. |
