617258 2007-12-02 06:52:00 You'll need a satellite dish, the terrestrial version (which uses an aerial) isnt out yet I think.

It costs nothing, but you'll need the receiver (search.dse.co.nz 6a8&site=&w=freeview&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=Go) to see it about $2-300.00

DTT Test signals are up and running in Wellington at the moment. Sites are being updated and coming online over the next few weeks.

617259 2007-12-02 08:25:00 For Sky subscibers - we don't get the sky but get the foreign channels.

Anyway .. since the Sky box uses their own satellite dish, do we get Freeview channels or do we need a 2nd dish on the roof and a Freeview machine?

617260 2007-12-02 19:02:00 I have a splitter on my cable from the Sky Dish. I can pick up freeview fine on my PC with a Hauppage card.

Sky can not encrypt the freeview channels.

That is the channels from Optus D1. If I want more free channels I could get a bigger Dish and multiple LNB's and pick up more channels.

617262 2007-12-02 19:12:00 Is there anything on it worth watching? I found the two TV6 channels a bit useless. Bantu (52)
617263 2007-12-02 19:16:00 Tell me about it... we got sky half a month ago, and there is nothing good on!

617264 2007-12-02 19:22:00 I have had Sky for about 7-8 years. Had MySky since it first came out. Since i am not a sports person I only have basic + Movie packages.

A lot of stuff we watch later rather than at the time it is aired, skipping all the adverts. To watch something live with adverts now after having MySky so long is a real pain.

Any movies I want to keep or anything for that matter I move onto an HDD recorder or my PC and later backup to DVD if it is something I want to keep.

Some of the kept stuff is stuff on likes of National Geo or History channel that MIGHT be helpful in later years to my Daughter at High School.

617266 2007-12-02 19:39:00 There have been a couple of things so far I recorded, Vincent Van Gogh and one on Queen Elizabeth the first, which my Daughter watched and along with other research both got her a top mark at school for the projects. The visual seemed to help her get a handle on what it was all about. Although there is a lot of rubbish some of these things I record she might or might not find useful in the future. Bantu (52)
617267 2007-12-02 19:43:00 Yea, it was good for a while, i think the only person that watches history is my dad =P password (5384)
