616247 2007-11-29 05:54:00 It's exactly comparable .

We don't see shock-horror headlines about people being killed by cars (or cigarettes) in China or Korea . Such deaths are not considered to be "news" .

A very small proportion of lithium batteries cause problems . I think the last "recall" I saw mentioned was of 50 million batteries, and that wasn't because of any fatalities . There are about a million or so cars in NZ . . . they kill many people every year . The numbers would be considerably greater in China and Korea (and possibly the rate, as well) .

How many people die from brain tumors and other diseases from cell phone use . It can't be proven yet as it is very difficult to prove .

Is Microsoft making cars now?

yeah, and their major competitor, apple, makes ones that cost twice as much and only work on 5% of the roads - only the ones starting with the letter "i"

then there's the linux cars - free to buy and free to run, but they have no warranty, there's way too many to choose from, and the average joe doesn't even know they exist

that could be because it doesn't happen

all the research and testing with microwaves and cellphones i've read has found that while certain frequencies can heat body cells (like a microwave oven), the frequency and more importantly power output of the cell phone is far too low to do any damage

you're probably more likely to get cancer from the sun, all those xrays you got for your broken wrist, or your fire alarm:lol:

The biggest flaw in the Linux cars are that they have no steering wheel, the owner's manual doesn't exist, you have to drive them from the back seat with a paper bag over your head and as everyone who drives a M-Car will tell you, there are no repair shops for them . :nerd:

Other than that, they are fun to drive although they look like a Russian Skoda .

616253 2007-11-30 03:35:00 Have a look here:-

www.smh.com.au

I am rather tired of urban myths

Fortunately I live in a rural area.

Why speculate? The facts may come out sooner or later.

616256 2007-11-30 08:49:00 Windows car - like a bike with training wheels.
Mac car - like a tricycle with training wheels, running on rails, with a preset speed.
Linux car - like anything you care to make it.

(I may go and hide for a while now)
