777368 2009-05-29 02:09:00 Our northland valley has no broadband coverage - whats a good petition to write up and get everybody to sign? We would like the option to have it if it was available. And who would I send it too?
And help would be appreaciated.

Pat in Honeymoon Valley

Broadband is available to the Peria school so it shouldn't be too much of a major to get it just up the road to Honeymoon valley?

777369 2009-05-29 03:56:00 There were some farmers who got sick of dial up, and contacted an ISP. The farmer laid the cables, and the ISP put in a cabinet

Actually they also got the local Council to subsidise the cost.
Good luck getting yours to help.

777370 2009-05-29 04:21:00 The promise was $1.5bill over the next 10 years or so - therefore they won't be spending it all at once!

This quote might be of interst to zefirebird:

There again I was not expecting 1.5 billion to be spent in any event as the Government got elected due to promises made in the past like other Governments who get elected and then move the figures to suit.

Whoops did not know what they have in the kitty.

777371 2009-05-29 08:25:00 And it was only if businesses will match it so probably no money will be spent in the near future gary67 (56)
777372 2009-05-29 09:05:00 We had no BB at all in a new subdivision.

I emailed our MP, cc'd to Telecom and the developer of our subdivision. The local newspaper did an article and 12 months later we not only have adsl, but adsl2. We were scheduled to have a cabinet installed 2001 so it was put forward 2 years with a bit of pressure.

Good luck
