"An iceberg was blamed for sinking the Titanic. Yeah right. Do they expect us to believe that ice--which is frozen water--is stronger than metal--the stuff they make swords out of? If icebergs are really that tough, then why don't people make boats out of icebergs instead?

I'll tell you why: because the government is a liar!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
If you have an ice boat, you can't have a hangi. That's discrimination. QED

Also the cost of Rockbergs to sink iceboats to help insurance sales would be a bit fierce.

Aaaah yes... however, I prefer Harry Paget Flashman's version of the retreat.

(See everything2.com

Great series of novels on the wars etc in the 19th century - certainly a bit different

616486 2007-12-06 00:20:00 Why didn't it survive? Who knows, but to me it seems much more likely that the cause of that collapse is rooted in dodgy cement, the Mob, and corruption within the building industry

The 'footage' comment was obviously tongue in cheek and WTC7 sustained some collateral damage from either the initial impact or subsequent collapse of the other buildings. Maybe the tremors were significant (although no other buildings fell due to tremors and WTC7 fell some hours later) but we do know generator fuel was pumped into the 5th floor fires from the basement for some hours (didn't someone think to turn the pumps off? or cut the power? Or drain the tanks etc.? Either it was sheer stupidity or deliberate...take your pick).

In any case, the reasons you provided above Bruce seems the most plausible (although I still have some nagging doubts about the collapse of WTC7). To me the issue is one of building design and construction methods. I've seen buildings with more damage, or an entire side ripped off, or on fire, and they didn't fall - so what gives? Yes WTC7 was on fire and had damage but even so, I don't think it should have collapsed the way it did - straight down when a corner was taken out? That is the primary reason for my nagging doubts.

Anyhoo, conspiracies aside, questions should be asked of the people/organisations that designed and built the WTC - especially WTC7. This was not a small building and if a comparable building in Auckland (like the old Robert Jones tower) collapsed because the Sky Tower collapsed, then I'm sure we wouldn't blithely accept 'design flaws' or bullsh1t reasons as to why it collapsed. {Mind you, that might depend on who went down with it!}

Anyway, why was the rubble (i.e evidence) removed from what was quite obviously a crime scene? Is this stupidity on the part of someone or a deliberate act to prevent examination? Who knows? Probably more to the point who cares? I suspect there is some arse-covering (as opposed to some grand conspiracy) going on and to me, this is what should be examined. But so long as our buildings don't start falling over when they catch fire then I'm satisifed...
