618241 2007-12-05 22:47:00 Which is best for reliability/parts?

I don't want to build it myself - would prefer to buy it either from a retail store (assuming they have enough options available) or online (again, making it customizable before buying). I'd like the kind of customization Dell allows, but I DON'T WANT A DELL!

Any thoughts?

ASUS motherboard, graphics card, optical drive
Seagate Hard drive
Enermax power supply
Any case - see above for power supply
Any CPU
Kingston, Legend, Corsair, Geil, RAM is fine.

618246 2007-12-05 23:42:00 Jwil...hope that stuff on the site means more to you than it does to me!

Seems to be lots of sockets...metric or imperial?

RAID? That like Mortein?

GA-MA69G-S3H....ain't that a twin-cam Toyota engine?

DIMM.....not too bright?

However....I did install 1GB of RAM into a Asus lappie last night, so quite chuffed with that! ;)

Slightly more :)

DIMM: Dual Inline Memory Module
Socket type refers to the CPU socket on the motherboard (I think)

Guess that's where the whole PCI Express thing comes into it aye?

I went to PB Technologies down Ghuznee St yesterday...not bad if you happen to be near by.

Aside from the **ahem** language difficulties....they were pretty helpful.

Said I wanted RAM for a lappie...good aye! :p and walked away with.....

Kingston ValueRAM 1GB 667Mhz DDR2 Non-Ecc CL5 SODIMM

....which seemed to do the job.

618249 2007-12-06 02:10:00 If they are going to built to your spec, ask if the warranty will be just a
standard one year or the individual warranties of the individual parts (2-3+ years
on most quality brands, if in doubt someone on this forum will know true warranty periods for parts)
