| 778664 | 2009-05-31 11:36:00 | Bought a Transcent 8 GB flash drive the other day and now trying to make it bootable with HP's Boot Utility which I downloaded a while ago. After executing the HP boot utility program, it boots OK but found that I've got only 1.38 MB of space. Where are my 7+ GB space gone to? Don't tell me that DOS couldn't recognise it?? | bk T (215) | ||

Re-formatted it and all my 8 GB reappears. Maybe I should try something else to make it bootable. Any other good utility to recommend for this task? Cheers |

This may make it bootable (thats what I did, with the flash drive I had), to make it bootable. Altho, NOT all flash drives are bootable either |

Altho, NOT all flash drives are bootable either Speedy, I downloaded the Win 98SE (boot98sc.exe) and formatted the flash drive in FAT32 - (only option) in Windows XP. When I run the downloaded .exe file, it asks me to insert Floppy to write. The flash drive is already inserted. |

| 778669 | 2009-06-01 00:46:00 | Nah you need a floppy not flash drive. Umm, you probably need winimage (thats what it is). To extract it. I'm getting this now | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 778670 | 2009-06-01 00:59:00 | I've extracted that image with winimage. So, I can send it if you want it (its about 740k). All you have to do is unzip it, then copy the files from it to the flash drive | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 778671 | 2009-06-01 01:40:00 | Speedy, got the file, extracted it to the flash drive but doesn't seem to be working. Has it to be formatted in FAT and not FAT32? There is no option in WinXP to format it in FAT. Do I need to run any program in there? I know this flash drive is bootable 'cause when I used the HP util to make it bootable, it booted fine. Cheers |
