778658 2009-05-31 10:29:00 I have had some time with this wifi issue . Some time ago I reloaded the ghost file and then it was working .

It is a 9yr old laptop which I added a ASUS G Wireless card (PC CARD) .

Today, it didn't connect . You see the green and yellow lights . It says it has connected to my router at 24Mbit . You can click rescan or click search available hotspots in my area, nothing fixes it . Then sometime later, it just connected by itself . Skype was on, auto login was set obviously . . and my homepage came up . . . .

Is there a solution or is this life? Maybe a older laptop, maybe windows 2000?

If I connect via cable, it works immediately .

I find it very unstable . You could reload the ghost file and it works, do a reboot and suddenly it won't work anymore . . .

Regards .

778659 2009-05-31 14:57:00 Try a different wifi card?

Have you tried getting new drivers for the card?

Does windows update at any point update (ruin) them for you?

778660 2009-06-01 00:43:00 Don't have another wifi card.

I would say when the other PC (Sempron) before the mobo went, the PCI Wifi card has similar symptoms.

Re: the laptop, if you redid the ghost file, in 2mins if you rebooted the wifi may not work anymore. With that I didn't have the chance to install win updates. Drivers not sure. I will try them.

778661 2009-06-02 15:00:00 I'd be interested in what Access Point you have, and the strength of the antenna on it... Chilling_Silence (9)
778662 2009-06-03 09:28:00 I would start by downloading and installing the latest wifi driver from the manufacturer's web site. This may or may not do anything - but it is a place to work from! johnd (85)
778663 2009-06-03 11:10:00 Linksys WAG54G Ver. 2. As it says.

The antenna just the original one. Reception not an issue, even in the same room it does the same thing ...

Will try drivers.
