778577 2009-05-31 06:55:00 Hi C1 has gone belly up, I have got into contact with 2 other sellers but the contacts has gone mute .

I have got onto seagate . com and seen some stuff .

Would you just buy another HD or would you return it? I assume it needs to be ship overseas, is the postal back free or am I charged?

Thanks .

778578 2009-05-31 07:00:00 Have you tried playtech and computer lounge?

i think they were helping with C1 RMAs

778581 2009-05-31 09:04:00 If its one of those Seagate 1TB with the firmware problem (SD15) your data is still intact. Contact seagate directly and they will put you in contact with local co who can fix it at their cost. I am currently trying to achieve this but their phone line take forever. Be prepared for hour + waits. I initially started the process by logging a job on their website to get a number. They then directed me to their helpline. A painful process but I had photos on the drive and hadnt expected a 3 month old drive to fail. Painty (3964)

778583 2009-05-31 20:48:00 Returning under to Warranty to Seagate is described on their website. You apply for an RMA then pack it and send it to the address they will give you.
Its not expensive and it doesn't take long either, turnaround is immediate.

778584 2009-06-01 04:35:00 Groan.

One of my barely used 1TB Seagates has started to experience I/O errors - which is a different thing again compared to the firmware problems.

Think I'll be going Western Digital next time.

Seatools diagnostic is estimating a 10 hour scan... and that's before it finds bad spots to try to recover.

50% now scanned - 5 bad sectors, spread across 4 separate areas of the disc.
I hope this isn't an indication of how most TB+ scale drives will go.
