I have Compaq Presario SR1500AN desktop PC. I have noticed that when it is first turned on the cooling fan on the processor starts up at what sounds like real full speed mode, but after about 3 seconds drops down to a very low speed and runs at that all the time. Is there a setup somewhere I should reset, or is a sensor ? or the fan itself faulty, or is this all OK ? |

Its probably controlled by an option in the BIOS. It sounds normal to me. It'll probably speed up / go faster when you do something intensive. The main thing is, its spinning, its when it doesnt move at all, you worry |

really appreciate your reply... thanks. I must admit I feel a bit silly putting such a query in the forum but thought it best to check it out.
makes me feel much better as I wonderd if I should check something in bios settings etc !! but, as you say the PC operation is quite normal |

It maybe the fans in the case as well. I can barely hear the CPU fan spinning on this. But, when I turn the computer on, I can hear the case fans (2 of them). But, as I soon as it gets into windows, the fans slow down. And the speed of the CPU goes to 1/2 speed. Until I do something intensive. |
