778203 2009-05-30 04:32:00 Hi There

I have a new computer with a 26" AOC monitor - running at 1920x1200 which is recommended.... pictures etc. look OK but text is not sharp... almost looks as though each character is made up of the same shape but in different colours where the layers not quite aligned properly....

Any suggestions please what I can do to improve this?

TIA

778204 2009-05-30 04:59:00 Good question.

As this is a new computer it may be best it you tell us what the operating system is along with what video card you have and other hardware apart from the monitor.

778206 2009-05-30 05:33:00 O/S is XP Home SP3 - Intel C2D E8500 3.16GHz, Intel DG43NB ATX MB, FSB 1333, GMX, GMA X4500 VGA on Board, Seagate 500GB H/D 7200rpm 16MB SATA, 2 LG DVD drives, Asus EN9800GT 1GB PCI-E, Lazer 16 in 1 card reader, CoolerMaster Sileo 500 Mid, CoolerMaster 650W eXtreme Power.

Is that enough info? As I am "an innocent abroad" I don't know which bit relates to the graphics card... sigh...

TIA

778207 2009-05-30 05:34:00 The problem will be the monitor itself. Not sure what you can do about it, maybe calibrate it? jwil1 (65)
778208 2009-05-30 05:35:00 Yes, Clear Type is checked.... Bryden (4161)
778209 2009-05-30 05:37:00 Calibrate monitor - how/where please? Bryden (4161)
778210 2009-05-30 05:49:00 I would be looking at the video drivers if cleartype is used.

Any damaged pixels on the monitor?

Or the video card itself may have a fault.

Have you tried the monitor connected to another PC if you can and I assume you ain't in Cambridge as you seem to be abroad.

If the graphics has a control centre you can also do it from there.
