Wainuitech: Ubuntu and Xubuntu are exactly the same thing- they just have diferent default desktop environments (gnome and xfce respectively). Cheers Erayd  I notice ( For me anyway) Ubuntu 9.04 is easier to use than previous versions.

What i did ( and Im a novice at linux) was open a terminal typed in

sudo apt-get install samba smbfs Rebooted, then opened a terminal, typed in
sudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf Scrolled down till I found Workgroup = Workgroup, and changed it to Workgroup=MSHOME, Rebooted, it then let the connections through.

Made a couple of folders, shared them - Rebooted -- and it worked (www.imagef1.net.nz). << Via W7

I know I may regret saying this -- BUT with 9.04 - I "may" even put it in for people who only want file servers -- The rest is still out of my knowledge area.

Maybe the file names have a space in them?

778123 2009-06-01 05:30:00 why would that matter?

I had a quick read and apparently it could be a problem with nautilus so im going to try with konqueror

linux unlike windows does not support spaces, if you have spaces in the file name then you get something like "%20" that why in linux you need to use _ or - in the files names.

Hope this is of some help :)
