618885 2007-12-09 22:23:00 Lexmark printers
Clone MP3 players of trademe (OK if you pay less than $40)
"untested" used PC hardware off trademe (untested = faulty but wont admit it)
cheapy generic large Astro Telescopes

HP printers too. mum bought a serveral hundred dollar "all in one" bloody thing it said ir needed to install drivers - about 330MB of drivers!

turns out that alot of those "drivers" was crappy bundled software all of which was useless and sit occupying 30MB of ram even if the printer is off and constantly wants to update!

i got myself a $40 epson printer and i don't think i ever even used the cd... only software it's got is the printing progress thing and the ink levels displayed in the same window (with the usual help stuff). most happy - i wanted a printer not another OS

618886 2007-12-09 22:28:00 I went in to HN on an emergency trip to get some ethernet cables recently . They had like 2 in stock (it's suppoosed to be "Computer City" dammit) and when I asked if they had more the guy tried to offer me a crossover cable .

"It's not the same thing" says I .
"Yes it is" says he .

I went to Dick Smith's up the road .

i went to HN's once to buy a 1gb SD card for my parents digital camera - i asked the guy and he said "hmm well thats gonna be hard as then dont make SD anymore!!!! but ill go out the back and have a look for you"

15 minutes later he pops out with a 256mb stick of PC100 SD RAM for a desktop Computer and then swears it will work with the camera

i just walked away from him and went to another guy working there and walked out with the correct item 5 min later
