618876 2007-12-08 05:24:00 Well if crocodiles are in the technology basket, then I would recommend not buying any slightly-used Victoria Crosses down at the pub.... johcar (6283)
618877 2007-12-08 07:59:00 DSE USB flash drives. The USB connector comes loose (well, it did in my experience) and in my case snapped off!

Or a USB1.1 Hub

618878 2007-12-08 08:05:00 Have you _actually_ bought a PC from Dell before? I had those same impressions when I bought my laptop late last year, and I've been more than happy with it. For the price I paid, specs were better than anything available on the market at the time. Support has been great too - even though you need to ring a call centre in India/Philippines/Malaysia or wherever it is.

Had a PC given to me for my birthday 2 days after Christmas 2004 (I hate that birthdate!) - it was a Dell Inspiron 1150 (yes, the one with the overheating issues - I didn't get to choose the model) with 256MB RAM and 30GB HD. Still goes well (a few upgrades later).

Had a fairly good experience with support from them though - helps if you can understand Indian Engrish though :)

Lol lets not get too descriptive or things could end up like the Whirlpool (whirlpool.net.au) situation.

Don't buy a cheap 2.5" external case... end up breaking real quick.

Sometime's paying a bit more for quality pays off in the long run.

618883 2007-12-09 20:54:00 any computer related item from H'Normans.

I went in to HN on an emergency trip to get some ethernet cables recently. They had like 2 in stock (it's suppoosed to be "Computer City" dammit) and when I asked if they had more the guy tried to offer me a crossover cable.

"It's not the same thing" says I.
"Yes it is" says he.

I went to Dick Smith's up the road.
