778653 2009-06-01 07:53:00 Did you run chkdsk /p/r?

I ran chkdsk multiple times, and it found no errors. I did not however use those extensions.

I also ran the Seagate Tools which also found no errors on the drive.

Cheers.

778654 2009-06-01 09:09:00 What does everyone recommend for doing an exact drive image (preferably freeware)?

I want to clone my current Seagate Boot HDD to a new Western Digital HDD so I can swap them over .

I am happy to do it either via a boot cd or hot image?

EASEUS Disk Copy looks quite good, as does Drive Image XML .

Could I use Seagate DriveWizard to clone from a Seagate to a Western Digital drive?

I was hoping to plug the Western Digital into a spare Sata Port on the the motherboard as I don't have a Sata USB enclosure . Will this work, is there any speed difference doing it this way the doing it by having the new drive connected by USB?

Cheers .

778655 2009-06-01 09:13:00 Seagate drive wizard will work fine, since one of the drives is Seagate:)

Pretty much a rebranded Acronis:p

778656 2009-06-01 09:17:00 Hi again Blam6.

I was wanting to ask when you flashed the Seagate drives you had, did everything go smoothly? What was the problems they were displaying before the flash? and did the new firmware fix them?

Thanks (and sorry for the 20 questions.... :waughh: ).

778657 2009-06-01 09:18:00 Disable the paging file (windows key+pause / advanced then performance / settings / advanced / change / no paging file / click on set. Then OK, then apply.

Then you may have to reboot. Then go back to the same place and select system managed size / click on set again, then OK, then apply. Then reboot again
