617815 2007-12-04 08:03:00 Any Isuzu experts here? Its an Isuzu 4BC1 in bus.
I changed fuel filter, cleaned sedimenter changed all fuel lines. There is aleast 50 litres in the tank as I drained it out to check fuel gauge and put it back in. Engine started fine before I messed with fuel system.
The system bleeds ok with the primer pump up to where it goes into the injector pump.
Problem is it wont bleed out from the injector pipes when the engine is turning over.
It got a manual fuel shut with a cable and it definetly not in the off position.
Funny thing is this engine has no throttle linkage from the pedal to the injector pump the pedal just moves an air valve on the manifold.
God knows how it senses the fuel input
There is a peice of fence wire on the other side of the fuel shut off lever sticking through the floor of the bus, presumaly to pull it up if it was stuck in the shut off position. Cranked engine and pulled this wire still no diesel at injector.
.
Rooted at the moment while my batteries charge up.
I presume there is a special way to bleed this model of Isuzu engine. Has anyone here worked with Iszu.

617816 2007-12-04 08:39:00 it sounds like one of those that controls the fuel via a couple of air hoses going from the pump to manifold, one of each side of a butterfly. i'm not familar with them.

generally when i get airlocked injectors i undo the fuel connection on each injector just a bit and let the air/fuel squirt out. messy but generally works. don't know exactly with that motor tho.

the other thing is if the primer pump isn't working. use an electric fuel pump to push fuel up from the tank.

617817 2007-12-04 18:09:00 There are no hoses from the pump to the manifold

I have completly undone the connection to all 4 injectors and no fuel comes out when the engine turns over. Dry as a nuns.
The primer pump works fine it pushed sucked? up the fuel from the tank and filled an empty sedimentor and fuel filter and is there right up to the in port of the injector pump.

617818 2007-12-04 18:38:00 Whoops just found 2 hoses under the manifold. I suppose these sense pressure acroass the butterfly to meter fuel.
Just cranked over for 3 minutes still no fuel

Is supposed to be the same injection pump . . . . but as your engine is not allowed in to the US . . the exact model isn't familiar to me . It won't pass the EPA standards for Nitrous Oxides .

It should have a built-in transfer pump that draws fuel from the tank .

First . . . what happened to cause it to not start? What did you do . . . if anything to it just before it failed?

Gotta get a little answer or two here to see which direction I can point you .

I have built and repaired a lot of these, and although the injection pump looks very intimidating, it's pretty simple . It is usually (by country of origin) a KIKI copy of a Bosch inline pump . It may be a real Bosch or not too .

Need more info . . but get back and I'll try top help .

BTW: Do NOT use ether or any starting fluids in this engine .

617820 2007-12-05 05:47:00 Got it running 10 minutes ago got email on how to bleed from Isuzu in Atlantic City USA.
Small bleed bolt in side of injector pump ( very hard to get to) undid it a few turns primed it till it pissed out.
