778820 2009-06-01 07:36:00 remove one stick and see if it boots with one

if that doesnt work, remove the first stick and try with just the other stick in place.

could also run memtest86+ (http://www.memtest.org/)

778821 2009-06-01 07:38:00 Beeps like that usually mean its not detecting the RAM. Remove one of them and see if it still does it.

Some of them can be quite fussy as to what RAM is used, Not all RAM will Run in every laptop.

Edited: just did a quick check is it DDR2-533

778823 2009-06-02 00:54:00 Tank you Guys, tried all that but now all I get is a Blank screen and a whistle :-(
The job was actually done by my dauther and now she tells me she didn't take the battery out before putting the new mem in. Does that meke a difference?

778824 2009-06-02 01:08:00 static electricity could have played a part.

you should really disconnect everything before installing new hardware, also ground yourself aswell otherwise you may fry something

778825 2009-06-02 01:41:00 As gamejunkie mentioned static electricity Could cause a problem but not always. Personally I have never taken a battery out when upgrading RAM - but I do take static precautions.

First thing to now try, put the laptop back to original using the RAM it did run with.
If the Laptop fires up, and runs OK - then its more than likely the wrong type of RAM for that model of Laptop. As I mentioned before - not all laptops will run on any ol RAM- some are "VERY fussy".

778826 2009-06-02 03:57:00 Thank you for the advise, unfortunately no luck. Tthe modules are 1GB ddr2 - 533 and I was assured it's compatible with the Toshiba M50, psm 53a 00L003 laptops.
Can anything more be done to start machine?
