2009-06-01 01:32:00 | Hi Everyone! Ive decided that I want to connect a pc to my TV in the lounge. My budget is $400 including Vista Home prem. Primarily going to be used to go onto the internet (as the room with my pc is frozen in the mornings and evenings(go 2009 Budget!!!)) Any ideas? I know $400 is pushing the limit, but all im going to do is go on the internet and occasionaly play some dvds. Obviously due to size, it has to be a Mini Case with Micro ATX M/B

2009-06-01 01:42:00 | Vista Home Premium OEM by itself will cost around 200....leaving 200 for the PC. Might want to think about going linux:p If all you do is go on the internet and play some DVDs, any linux distro will do fine. maybe MythBuntu? Hardware: www.qmb.co.nz www.qmb.co.nz aplus.co.nz (doesn't say price but is 81 dollars, add to cart and see) www.qmb.co.nz pconlineshop.co.nz $424 all in all.(incl GST) I suggest you network your other main computer with all the media etc on that then access it from your HTPC. As 80gb may not be anough storage. Blam

2009-06-01 01:59:00 | trademe could be an option | GameJunkie (72) | |
2009-06-01 03:30:00 | New I would say $400-500 ex. the software. Also no screen. Why do you want Vista Home Premium? I am still with XP a new PC I got this year. Or I get a $200-300 PC on trademe or at Turners and be done with it on XP.

2009-06-01 04:15:00 | $400 would be the cheapest, ie., cheapest motherboard (Micro ATX) builtin graphics, AMD Sempron CPU, 1GB RAM, a HDD. Althou the HDD you could get a smaller one and save $30? Keyboard / mouse and the case and power pack may push it up towards $500. Play DVDs? DVD drive will be another cost. Or buy 2nd hand.

2009-06-01 04:35:00 | I have the keyboard and mouse (I got a Microsoft Wireless Desktop 6000 v2 at 40% off for $60 today from DSE.) And i got a tv (which is going to be my screen). So really all i need is the box (or whatever you call it) HDD is not a problem, i can live with 80gb And trademe..... Have had too many bad experiences to go back there....
