No - they just use standard IEC connectors (aka "jug cords"). Some monitors, such as early generation LCDs, came with an external PSU.

IEC actually stands for International Electrotechnical Commission and does not specify any particular kind of plug, but IEC Connector refers to a group of plugs defined by IEC.

The real name for the plug used is the IEC-C13. The socket is a C14.

Most jugs will use the same one but they should use the C15 and C16 which are rated to a higher temperature.

I have seen some LCD monitors which use a C5 "Cloverleaf" connector, however.
