| 779531 | 2009-06-04 02:45:00 | Do you have a UPS? If you do, how many VA(eg. 1000VA) is it? And with a p4 2GHZ+ PC with a 17inch+ monitor and wifi, how long will it run for starting from turning the PC on? eg: 5 minutes, 20 minutes etc? |

| 779532 | 2009-06-04 03:47:00 | Run UPS's on all the PC's here - saved them many a time. The ones I use are only basic, 650VA - remembering they are only meant to run a PC for a short time in a sustained power outage - if there is any dirty power floating about the battery will kick in for a few seconds, then when clean runs back on mains power. They generally last around 10-20 minutes, so long enough to save your work, and shut the PC down correctly instead of a sudden power cut crash. The time will vary depending on how much power is being drawn from apps, and all hardware, mine dont run printers. Only the PC/LCD/Speakers. | 779533 | 2009-06-04 08:22:00 | a big thing is what type of monitor are you useing. CRT take a lot of power to turn on and a fair bit to run. also if your running printers, phones etc off one. |

| 779534 | 2009-06-05 04:57:00 | I use an APC 1000 but only because I got it free! Needed new batteries which cost me $20 . It has my main comp and LCD attached . Only lasts for 10 or so minutes so if power goes out when I am not there it won't be much use . It does provide excellent protection from brownouts and spikes, though . Of course, they are suppose to be connected to the computer (older ones used a serial cable) and a program on the comp monitors the situation and shuts down the comp if it goes to battery . |
