619537 2007-12-20 20:32:00 I wouldnt be so harsh Laura.. personally, its not the end of the world, and I think its nice that Fairfax spice things up a little :)

This one I s'pose is more a "members choice awards 2007"? :D

619538 2007-12-20 21:37:00 I know you yourself didn't mean to criticise, Jen, but that really cheeses me off.

I suggest that whoever at Fairfax decided on the extra prizes without notifying non-Fairfax Mods personally in advance ( so you had to find out from the banner ad ) needs a lesson in good manners. It didn't (and doesn't) bother me Laura. :)

I can certainly understand the confusion it has caused (from James comments), as they are very similar in intent, but as Chill says, this one is for the "members" choice. :)

I think it is great that Fairfax is doing that little bit extra to recognise how PressF1 has grown with the 500,000th post milestone pending, and also giving away some neat prizes as a thank-you for the contribution people make to this community.

619539 2007-12-20 22:33:00 What happens if the 500,000th post is made by a spammer? Erayd (23)
619540 2007-12-20 22:42:00 What happens if the 500,000th post is made by a spammer?

619541 2007-12-21 00:39:00 to clarify, there's no prize for the actual 500.0o0th post. If it's by a spammer I'm sure Jen, Chilling or myself will remove it and replace it with a happy 500.000 post :) Jan Birkeland (4741)
619542 2007-12-21 00:57:00 So uhm, is PressF1 very close to 500,000th posts?

Jan, don't PC World editorial staff include you as well?

Cheers :)

619543 2007-12-21 01:22:00 So uhm, is PressF1 very close to 500,000th posts?

The PressF1 "forum" or the PressF1 "Category" is close to 500,000th posts,

But the PressF1 forum it self (this includes both PressF1 & PC World Chat "Categorys" have past 500,000th posts awhile back, its now up to 624,373 posts as of 21/12/07 @ 2:23 pm)

May I suggest to Jan & the PC World staff that you make a mention that is just the PressF1"Category" is close to 500,000th posts, & not the PressF1 forum????

I Hope that makes sense??

619545 2007-12-21 01:44:00 I have voted for Wainui. Not because I dislike other PressF1 people. Sweep (90)
619546 2007-12-21 18:28:00 I find it impossible to separate Speedy & Wainuitech in my mind - for their patience & stickability when it comes to solving someone's tricky & time-consuming problem.
They are both gems.

Same here. I don't really want to vote because of their (and others) superb help over the past year. Bob_Doe also has been a great help, and these guys (and girls) are one of the main reasons I can enjoy mucking around with my PC, knowing help is always at hand.
However, for service above and beyond the call of duty, my vote is going to Wainuitech. Anyone who has gone out for a social evening, but still checks the forum to see if I've got my problem sorted is the man!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all those (finalists or not) who have helped and entertained me during the year.
