618988 2007-12-08 20:26:00 I've done my time (a few years) in Aucks (North Shore), did a few courses that involved travel to Central, West and a bit of South Aucks.
Liked driving, liked the reality (down-to-earth'ness) of [mainly] the Islanders, also some Maori
Look forward to the toffee-nosed (mainly white) getting their come-uppanceDon't we just luurrrve generalisations!!!! :groan: :groan:

Not all europeans were toffee-nosed, but a lot [on the North Shore] were too self-absorbed to care about anything else

618990 2007-12-09 01:34:00 He may have been lippy which is a fatal mistake to make in Auckland. My advice to people when out late and drinking here is dont gob off. If you say the wrong thing to someone especialy to another race or culture you will get taken out.
Most of these attacks arent attack without any provocation.
In regards to population numbers here your chances of getting murdered are right up there with winning first division lotto.
I have survived lots of pissed as a chook nights in the bad areas like K road and Fort street with no damage.

Bite your tongue, you could be pissed once too often and these goons love the easy hits!.

618991 2007-12-09 05:16:00 Now excuse me, while I jump into my V8 4WD and pop down to the local cafe for a panini and a soy latte.... ;) :D :D

You can actually buy such things in Gore too now you know.......although you're more likely to pop down in your cow **** encrusted ute.

Problem is, even if your not lippy and just walk away, some take it as a hint and bash you anyway.

618994 2007-12-09 10:54:00 Bloody typical. Something happens in Auckland and theres a huge uproar. Happens anywhere else and 'yeah, that sorta thing happens'.

This kinda reminds me of the power cuts last year I think it was. South Canterbury etc get cut off for 2-3 weeks and just get on as best they can. Auckland loses power for a few days and it's expected to be a national outcry

maybe the millions of dollars it cost the country had something to do with it? plus it isn't an annual event and affect alot more people

The only way to fix it is Zero Tolerance for ALL Violence.

At the moment due to drugs, P, booze, TV, video games etc, human life is rated cheap.

if you seriously think a couple of beers on a friday night with my mates playing on the playstation is going lower my value of life you seriously need to have a reality check.

maybe TV is partly to blame for making this "gangsta" bull**** popular... but really i blame society for all the BS they feed our kids - the TV is just a feedback effect; reflecting and then reinforcing society.

but you're right that zero tolerance should be the way, but it won't be with the current government...

funny, going to parties in different areas of auckland you get a feel for the people there...

north shore: can be fun and friendly with a worrying approach to alcoholism, but much more often it's snot nosed and pretentious with a "my drink is fancier than yours" approach to alcoholism

west auckland: usually frikken awesome, everyone is friendly and doesn't judge and drinking is less of a faggotry competition and more of a means to get impressively drunk and neighbours consulted first, OR full of "gangstas" sadly most of which are very pasty white and the cops turn up promptly due to the loud cars using the road as a burnout pad, speakers blasting 50 cent out over the neighbourhood, and no neighbours being consulted prior to the event. in either case do remove all valuables from your car, lock it, and double check your insurance - actually caught one guy trying to break into my car despite having caught him once already and moved my car onto the party property into plain sight. chased him out onto the road where he jumped into a waiting car. i swear the kid was only 14:groan:

south auckland: well, i'm white and don't like racism in reverse, nor having to run from a 6 foot person for, well, i'm not sure what exactly.... didn't hang round to find out. the maoris/islanders in west auckland are way cooler

central and eastern: from what i've seen it's pretty tame.... just chilling, have a few beers and not much happens... "safe" night out

Problem is, even if your not lippy and just walk away, some take it as a hint and bash you anyway.yeah i think that's what nearly happened to me

True, but they been quiet compared to the other race types here. Goons in cars are our worst problem, crush their cars like the Aussies are now doing.

Probably cause more finance coys. to go down the gurgler.

lol very clever:lol:

i've got nothing against colour, just attitudes.

you get pretentious people in many flavours from "more sophiticated/higher class" to "holier than thou (racism for colour and/or religion)" to "wanna step c*nt, i'll f*ck you up (alot of white guys doing that too)"

i prefer the friendly people who don't feel the need to prove anything, and don't get hung up on those petty differences like colour, race, wealth and religion. i know alot of them from all parts of auckland, and all of NZ too...

though out of auckland there is a bit of "anti aucklander" which is fine when it's in jest (hell i'll join in), but sometimes they're serious, which worries me...

basically, if someone can't take a joke about themselves, or will judge people before talking to them, they aren't worth the effort
