My theory is that my PSU can't supply enough power to run it at 16x. I really hope it is that, because it's an easy fix(once I get some money).

You might want to do some checking because my investigating says the board has 4 x pcie x16 slots . . . . . you might want to check the manufacturers site for issues etc . . . .
also, unless the card can saturate pcie x 8, it WONT be restricted . . . . and AFAIK only the dual graphic cards show a difference between x8 & x16 .

I would check for updated chipset drivers for AMD 790FX!

779364 2009-06-05 04:30:00 Oh ok then. I could only make it work in the third slot(won't fit in fourth due to cooler), and CPUZ says 8x. Hmm I think I might do some investigtions then. Experimenting will have to wait until I get a new PSU though, as at the moment I have wait at least 10 minutes between shutdown and power on. If I don't, the RAM doesn't start and it used to give me a 'no video card' beep. sammo450 (13626)
