620087 2007-12-11 06:25:00 Casinos are great Speedy, heaps of fun, love the enviroment, however, Sky City is a bit tacy, in respect that there dress code is pretty low.

Is that because you manage to get in:D
On a serious note, I have watched my mother inlaw over the past 7 years blow her life savings after her seperation, This included about $200,000 in australia in a 3 year period from the proceeds of her share of the marital home.
And since returning to NZ, every spare cent she earns. Thankfully for my partners sake she has pulled her head in over the last 6months.

I've only been into the gaming area once, and probably my last time. It smelt funny.

620090 2007-12-12 01:08:00 To make problem gamblers get help they should run it as a lottery. Show up for help and go into the draw to win a prize ....

....and if you don't win then you can double up....

620091 2007-12-12 01:52:00 I was in Vegas last year for 3 days and the whole time I was there only put $1 into a pokie and lost
That's how much gambling I do. :D

620092 2007-12-12 02:16:00 I also do not like gambling - and for that matter excessive drinking. But my story will definitely peeve off the gamblers present.

I have been on a course in Akl and the morning after breakfast, on the way to the course, had $1 left (after buying the paper). Dropped it in a pokie (had no pockets to put it (the $) in), pressed the button and walked on. Guy called me back "Sir sir come back, you won""Won what!!" (me pretty peeved off, what's he on about). "The jackpot sir". They paid out a cool $830. Last year, the same happened in our local Workmen's Club, and I got $430 from $1. Never did it before, have no inclination to do it again.

620093 2007-12-13 20:11:00 Chicken Ones golden rule, gambling in a casino.

Expect to lose money you take in, if you win big take the money and go party, dont feed it back into the machine.
People with gambling addictions must be real dumb people because the odds or chance of you winning are stacked in the casinos favour. You cant bet the odds again and again its mathmatics you will lose. Until that fact is drilled into their heads they are on a lose lose spiral downhill. Perhaps a good slapping would help, I dont really know maybe their brain is different to normal people.
I have never had a win in over 30 years of occasional gambling including horse racing.

the addiction has nothing to do with winning money, it's all about the thrill.

620096 2007-12-13 21:57:00 These gambling palaces are not built with winners money.
They are packed with sad losers who have not yet learned there is no such thing as a free meal.
