618978 2007-12-08 05:04:00 The only way to fix it is Zero Tolerance for ALL Violence.

At the moment due to drugs, P, booze, TV, video games etc, human life is rated cheap.

Well these scum bags need putting in jail for LIFE and Life should mean life. And with hard labour and show it on tv. Then they would think twice about it.

I still say a few Labour MP's need to feel some of this violence close to home, so they will not be quite so PC.

618979 2007-12-08 05:20:00 Bloody typical. Something happens in Auckland and theres a huge uproar. Happens anywhere else and 'yeah, that sorta thing happens'.

This kinda reminds me of the power cuts last year I think it was. South Canterbury etc get cut off for 2-3 weeks and just get on as best they can. Auckland loses power for a few days and it's expected to be a national outcry

Hey I actually enjoyed that! Got a day off! And the best part was that I live just a few mins drive from the Otahuhu substation. (where it happened) Our household had electricity going. With no blackout what so ever     :p

South Canterbury = 15 people affected (good strong farming stock, who know how to properly home-kill a two-tooth and spit roast it over a couple of North & South magazines)
Auckland = 1.1 million people affected (most of whom can't tell which end of a candle to light!!) :D

618982 2007-12-08 06:34:00 why are all these stabbings happening in auckland especially in these upmarket areas. are auckland streets any different to other nz cities?

My perception of Auckland is certainly that it is different from other cities in New Zealand in a whole lot of ways.

618983 2007-12-08 09:11:00 He may have been lippy which is a fatal mistake to make in Auckland. My advice to people when out late and drinking here is dont gob off. If you say the wrong thing to someone especialy to another race or culture you will get taken out.
Most of these attacks arent attack without any provocation.
In regards to population numbers here your chances of getting murdered are right up there with winning first division lotto.
I have survived lots of pissed as a chook nights in the bad areas like K road and Fort street with no damage.

Most people who have that sort of perception have never been there.
My neighbour went up for the first time in her life recently, came back and said she liked it.
She didn't get caught in traffic though.

Auckland has farmers too, Kumeu, Taupaki etc.
It has a huge variety.

Someone else here said to me that they get the idea its all newsreaders and "celebrities". They forget the Pacific Islanders, the Indians, the Asians, the people renting hovels and cleaning office buildings for minimum wage.
They forget the outskirts. They think Auckland consists of Remuera and not much else.

Now excuse me, while I jump into my V8 4WD and pop down to the local cafe for a panini and a soy latte.... ;) :D :D

618987 2007-12-08 20:18:00 I've done my time (a few years) in Aucks (North Shore), did a few courses that involved travel to Central, West and a bit of South Aucks.
Liked driving, liked the reality (down-to-earth'ness) of [mainly] the Islanders, also some Maori
Look forward to the toffee-nosed (mainly white) getting their come-uppance
