| 779590 | 2009-06-07 09:39:00 | Hi - thanks for that. Will give UBCD4Win a go- not that clever at this so may take some time. Have full backups so just a pain really. cheers | jubes (14974) | ||
| 779591 | 2009-06-07 09:42:00 | You have backups? Excellent....I would highly recommend a full reinstall then, if this fails to work. Its obvious that many windows components are stuffed, probably caused by malware. Try the UBCD4Win-and if that fails to work reinstall. Blam |

| 779593 | 2009-06-07 09:54:00 | I see this sort of thing all the time - what has more than likely happened, as already mentioned - the PC is full of spyware / Viruses - this often will stop any sort of antimalware programs installing or even running. Most of the time when its in this state - while there are ways to remove it, depending on the damage to the OS, its actually better in the long run to save any data and reinstall Windows - you can never be sure every infection has gone, or all system files are repaired. One you can try is ComboFix (www.bleepingcomputer.com) -- But I have even seen infected PC's stop this from working. Edited: actually got two customers PC's to do this on tomorrow - similar behavior as you mention. ( fun and Games) |
