779326 2009-06-13 02:10:00 Hey tried your suggestion blam but it still blue screens saying:
"STOP: C0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\systemroot\system32\config\software
or its log or alternate."
So then it does a dump and reboots.
What is the easiest way to fix this short of reinstalling?

779327 2009-06-13 02:15:00 You may have to try this (support.microsoft.com). I wouldnt call it the easiest way, but it's probably the only way. Short of reformatting the hdd. Speedy Gonzales (78)

If you have an UBCD4Win you can try the registry rollback wizard but it may not definetly work

Try performing a chkdsk /f

Have you actually done this Blam?

support.microsoft.com

CHKDSK
chkdsk drive /p /r
The chkdsk command checks the specified drive and repairs or recovers the drive if the drive requires it. The command also marks any bad sectors and it recovers readable information.

You can use the following options:
/p Does an exhaustive check of the drive and corrects any errors.

/r Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information.
Note If you specify the /r option, the /p option is implied. When you specify the chkdsk command without arguments, the command checks the current drive with no options in effect.

or "CHKDSK /F" (Within Operating System)

If it won't boot you don't do /f.
