2009-06-03 06:43:00 | Hey Guys, Both my desktop and laptop have developed an intemittant fault with NOD32 Smart Securitys Firewall. Below is the error NOD shows me. If I try to uninstall it on the desktop I get more errors as shown below. Both system are running Vista Business, one 32bit, the other 64bit. Any ideas how to fix it? Edit: Just thinking it may have developed after installation of SP2

2009-06-03 06:52:00 | have you just upgraded from an earlier version ?? If so, download Revo Uninstaller (www.revouninstaller.com) --get the portable version, that way you dont need to install it. Run it, select Eset Smart Security ( or could be just Eset cant remember now) and select ADVANCED -- Uninstall - when the Smart Security finishes, DONT accept it to reboot - THIS IS IMPORTANT -- click next in revo, remove all reg keys and folders it finds - NOW reboot - reinstall ESS. looks like an upgrade went Dicky - using revo will completely remove ESS, its own uninstaller wont. you'll have to reset every thing - but it should work correctly now. Edited: the first warning message is actually telling you this. If ESS crashes while revo is working, ignore it, revo will (or should) carry on

2009-06-03 06:56:00 | I've been running V4 on the desktop since day 1, the laptop was upgraded sometime ago. Only problem is Revo can't see it after the failed uninstall.

2009-06-03 07:37:00 | By any chance did you leave ESS turned on while installing SP2 - it pays to turn it off, even MS recommend disabling all protection. Have you tried to reinstall ESS back over the top of the existing damaged one ?

2009-06-03 07:53:00 | Have a feeling I might have left it enabled, did it well sick so probably wasn't thinking. Have tried reinstalling over the top and get the same set of errors. Edit: I have ownership

2009-06-03 08:16:00 | Ok - download This here ( . nod32 . nl/download/tool/nod32removal . exe" target="_blank">www . nod32 . nl) -- Only problem its in dutch I think - only had to use it once, and the mrs did it and could understand the lingo - she knows several languages ( shes dutch by birth) from what I saw the defaults are highlighted . you may need log into the "real Administrator account" - even if your account is administrator you dont have full rights . To get the real Admin account, click start, type in cmd, right click, run as administrator . Type in net user administrator /active:yes <Press Enter> reboot and the admin account will show to log in . To hide it again log into your normal account type in net user administrator /active:no Assuming that program removes ESS, reinstall it, then remove it again with Revo to make sure it cleans out ALL the files/reg keys -- then reinstall ESS again
