| 621937 | 2007-12-17 07:31:00 | Probably not just the U.K. :D My wife was in hospital recently and neither she nor I could understand the doctor. He and a couple of assistants discussed the problem with each other in medical terms embraced in Indian/Pakistani/ Swahili/ or something. Eventually a young European doctor turned up and the irony was his Scottish Accent was so broad we had difficulty understanding him also. The wife did survive, but as a bonus our local GP had employed a locum from Germany and believe it or not, he spoke perfect English and was able to explain everything. :D |

| 621938 | 2007-12-17 08:09:00 | Remember Enock Powell - He was so damned right and got pilloried from both sides of parliament for just saying the plain obvious truth. At least in the UK they have been sufficiently Politically Incorrect to publish these unpalatable truths - somehow I don't think such bureaucratic honestly would be forthcoming under Helengrad. If the British Immigration Policy over the last 50 years is the answer - It would have had to be a bloody stupid question. eg - How do you destroy a country's Culture, Heritage and Traditions? Is it too late for NZ not to go down the same path? |

| 621940 | 2007-12-17 18:38:00 | We get a slant on your problem here when we use the phone to order something. The electronic voice will say: "Thank-you for calling XXX Company. If you would like to continue hearing this message in English , press the number ONE now; if you want to hear it in Spanish, press number TWO now." ...which I guess is all well and good...until it goes this way: "...Si usted desea oír este mensaje en español, ahora empuje el número uno. Si usted desea oír este mensaje en inglés, ahora presione por favor el número dos". |
