621626 2007-12-16 01:46:00 Hi Guys

Why is it that when you call a young person on their mobile phone they never answer it ! ?

It annoys me as it costs money to call them and what is the point of having a mobile if you never answer it. This happens to me so many times.

I know I can txt them, but sometimes you want to speak in person as it is much quicker, and sometimes they don't have any credit left on their phone so they can't text back !

Regards

621627 2007-12-16 01:55:00 I don't always answer mine, as contrary to popular opinion it's not glued to my person. My life does not revolve around my phone. If someone actually needs to get hold of me, they can leave voicemail and I will call them back as soon as I have time to do so.

Calling a mobile costs no money unless it is answered, or reaches the voicemail. Leaving voicemail costs less than the conversation you were about to have, and the person calling you back bears the charge of the call - so you can't really complain about the cost unless they ignore voicemail (which sadly many people seem to do).

621628 2007-12-16 02:21:00 I am the same as Bletch, if I have it on me and am able to answer it, I will.

But if I don't have it on me or I am not able to answer it, I won't... Also, same as Bletch, mine is not permanantly attached to the end of my hand.

621629 2007-12-16 04:17:00 My phone never leaves my person, But...nobody ever rings.

One day it will, And I'll be there.

Of course, I'm probably not young either....

621630 2007-12-16 04:19:00 Probably because it is often not convenient to answer a phone call. A txt message can be easily ignored until it suits you to reply - just like email, but more accessible. Greven (91)
621631 2007-12-16 04:54:00 Probably because a lot of young people collect their messages and answer them later from someone else's land line (not paid for by them).

I don't answer mine as I don't have one due to the fact that they don't work reliably where I live - so please don't ring me as I may disappoint you.

621632 2007-12-16 05:08:00 I solve the problem of having to bother not answering it by not having one. Agent_24 (57)
621633 2007-12-16 05:14:00 As a young person myself, I think guys are actually wrong.

When I have my phone on me, it is by default, set to silent. This is because if we get a text message during class, we dont want to draw attention or get our phones confiscated. This means when someone calls we miss it!

Simple.

621635 2007-12-16 05:43:00 I'll tell you what, People get all funny when they ask for my number and I say nah,I don't give it out.

And unless Im expecting the call, I generally don't answer it if its not from someone in my address book.

And then there is the few people I have rung and told them to stop sending me crap texts.....

I'm an all around charmer.
