621499	2007-12-15 22:10:00	Whats with this cash back on laptops? is it one big fiddle (rip off) or just plain “we hope the customers forget to apply for refund” Why cant the retailer (the bigger ones) just get $100 off replacement stock so the customer gets the $100 cheaper item when they make their purchase? Earlier this year I got a cheap PDA (about $300) it is the biggest heap of crap I have ever brought. You can not do anything with it like transfer files between main computer and PDA, the only way you can do this is go on Internet and spend yet more money down-loading programs for it, you can not even move plain text files between main computer & PDA, I wrote one of my web pages on it while using public transport I had to synchronize the PDA with my main computer highlight the text from the main computer then copy and paste into my main computer text document, then I had to reedit a few times. My advice watch out before you buy a PDA, it is exactly like a car! you go broke when you pay for insurance & fill it up with fuel. Maybe I should of got a laptop instead.	nrrrta (11415)

If so, the reason Acer don't let the suppliers use it, is too many people were being dishonest and pocketing the $100, not passing it on to the customer. 621502	2007-12-17 08:46:00	Just that, I started with a question but then fattened the post with a rant, I was only interested with the question, but if you can use the rant well good on you, on reflection I wish I had not got the PDA and put the money towards a laptop and to be honest I would prefer to say away from these "cash back" deals, I just think it is a joke . Most companies run their cash back through a separate company and this slows the process down completely i bought an HP laptop on 14th October 2008, still waiting for the cash back If you go to HP's website, the number to call for cash backs is on the bottom of the web page... typical. When you do find the number and call...15 minute wait time to get through.. I'd say that a system, that has to go through a separate company just to claim back-$100.00 is too slow- mainly they have to verify the sale- and follow all sorts of procedures. Of course don't even bother talking to the retailer (especially a big brand...noel leeming..etc) As you will get the common retail response " We have done everything our end ". " Nothing we can do " Next time I'll spend my $3146.00 somewhere else. Avoid cash back deals -unless you enjoy wasting your time trying to get $100 back...	NZfunk (13162)

621508	2009-01-27 00:53:00	It can go both ways. I had two customers who did their Toshiba Cashbacks in March 2008 and only received them in December 2008! But then had another one that was claimed in November and they got it in December. Only ever dealt with Toshiba for cashbacks so can't say what the other brands are like. Wasn't there something about cashbacks on Fair Go not so long ago?	CYaBro (73)
