779802 2009-06-05 03:15:00 I'm currently using TightVNC from my laptop to my headless media server at home, and was just wondering:

- What is the difference between all the VNC's (tight/ultra/real etc)
- What is the most efficient/fastest?

I don't need any encrypted file transfer capability etc - just the basics as fast as possible.

779803 2009-06-05 03:51:00 I use ultra myself....cant say I have noticed speed differences between the versions as such, just stablilty SolMiester (139)
779804 2009-06-05 04:33:00 I use Real VNC for LAN work, and Team Viewer over the internet. wainuitech (129)
779805 2009-06-05 05:08:00 I have also used www.mesh.com (Microsoft Live Mesh).. Its little slow compare to TightVNC (which I used in my previous jobs) babip (14282)
779806 2009-06-05 05:33:00 I use ultra, and ultra over hamachi for tricky situations. Rob99 (151)
779807 2009-06-05 06:00:00 I don't see an differences really, all do the same thing anyways. Blam (54)
779808 2009-06-05 23:45:00 I've used TightVNC for years now, after the version that I was using was spawning the java interface all the time... but VNC is a standard, so basically you're just picking an app based on "optional extras".
I gotta admit, Ultra VNC looks pretty good, might give it a whirl :)
