621955 2007-12-17 06:22:00 Bait the traps with a touch of peanut
Our rellies in Te Kauwhata swear that peanut butter works, so must be good !
Nevertheless we found that poison did the job first. Suggest you do both ........unless you are patient.

621956 2007-12-17 06:26:00 I could lend you Snuffs, she'd have it out and eaten in 30 seconds then she'd hunt down and slaughter the rest of the family too. pctek (84)
621957 2007-12-17 06:40:00 Get a mouse trap and use Peanut Butter, they love it.

We caught a mouse at work acouple of weeks ago like that. Works a treat

621958 2007-12-17 07:16:00 Peanut butter definitely works

We laid one of ours behind the oven, another on the bench behind the toaster, and another in a cupboard (we had found mouse droppings in the cupboard).

All 3 were baited with peanut butter

Cats nowadays may not have the capability to catch a mouse anymore:D

621960 2007-12-17 07:24:00 I use to roll up a thumb size piece of bread so that's it sticky, then place it in to the spikes/grate of a standard mouse trap. Worked most times... kahawai chaser (3545)
621961 2007-12-17 08:13:00 Four hours and 16 posts, caught the mouse yet, Greven? :p Renmoo (66)
621962 2007-12-17 08:45:00 I almost caught it with my bare hands, but I was too slow. It keeps getting into my bread on top of the microwave so I was looking around there for where to set the trap.

It fell off the shelf in the cupboard behind the microwave when I tried to grab it & got away faster than I could bend down when it hit the ground.

I'll have to try the peanut butter - never heard of anyone doing it like that before but it sounds like it gets results. My flatmate got a couple of cheap mouse traps while she was doing her shopping.

I've never had a problem with mice until I moved into my current flat. It could have something to do with always having neighbours with cats that liked me more than their owners - I miss having a cat around.

621963 2007-12-17 08:46:00 Just a heads up...
watch for the other troublesome mouse (scientific name Mus Geekis) which is a very slow moving mammal. They are usually found around computers, and are very easy to catch. Most can be found sitting beside a keyboard, for others however; they can be caught by moving ones hands behind their computer tower, then following the tail to the mouse body.
Not known to breed in prolific numbers, however in some homes more than one mouse can be found.
Usually white in colour, but may be black, blue or various other colours. Mus Macus (the Apple mouse) is always white in colour, though can have different coloured glowing eyes
Although a terrestrial creature, some have been seen flying across rooms. However these are usually of the wireless variety

621964 2007-12-17 09:40:00 Hmmm. Peanut butter as bait - does it matter if you use the Chinese peanut butter, or do they prefer Australian? ;) johcar (6283)
