| 623579 | 2007-12-22 02:08:00 | So january 7th is the day when you can sign up for vfx with xnet so my friend decided with my help choose a cordless phone.A base phone with two additional cordless handset that way she won't need to be stuck with 1 in the house So I chose her a uniden DSS 7905. Ah its a 5.8Ghz that says digital clarity.Woo hoo!!! Unfortunately just after 1 hour of charging .I tried it to see if it is really good quality. The voice is distorted.Words are very distorted. You can hear fussy sound at the background and there's echo too when speaking to someone. I think the phone sucks ... Is uniden a bad brand? |

| 623580 | 2007-12-22 03:00:00 | I've got a Uniden ummm....DSS7815, and it's fine. Sound is what was expected. Battery life sucks though. But it may for all brands..... Also have a Uniden freq scanner, and it's great. So, to answer your question, as a brand it's pretty good. But no doubt there'll be people that tell you the opposite. |

| 623582 | 2007-12-22 03:50:00 | I took it back to Harvey Norman however the phone seems to be working fine with no problems at all but when its at my friend place.Words are cut off.Distortion sounds are taking over the conversation I tried plugging a normal phone into the pap2t linksys device and i got superb line quality I plug the cordless into the telecom line it was terrible Any idea what the problem could be? |

| 623583 | 2007-12-22 03:57:00 | We bought a Uniden model SS E15. Battery only lasted just over a year and after replacing it the speech became distorted. It is a load of rubbish. We are back to our old Panasonic which has perfect speech and a long battery life. So you can see I wouldn't recommend a Uniden. Cheers. | Pato (2463) | ||

It probably says something like "CHARGE FOR 15 to 20 HOURS FIRST TIME" And also check what else is operating on 5.8GHz around the house. WiFi, fluorescent lights, burglar alarms, computers or some other gadget could be interfering. Try using a longer lead to put the base unit further away from the VFX box & computer. |

Well..the manual doesnt say anything about it and as for wifi.Yes there's wifi but 5.8ghz shouldn't affect that.I have even unplugged the modem. There's no burglar alarms or lights or anything else .I have tried plugging into a phone jack in another room I will let it charge for 15 hours but I doubt it will do make any difference If it doesnt work after tonight I will change to a panasonic handset |

| 623586 | 2007-12-22 10:06:00 | Quote from Uniden DSS7815 manual: "After install the battery pack in the handset, charge your handset for at least 15-20 hours before plugging into the phone line." I also suspect that it will not make any difference. But I fear that you may have the same experience with any other brand of cordless phone if you don't identify the problem you have with this one. I've used several Uniden phones for several years and found them very reliable. |

| 623587 | 2007-12-22 17:29:00 | Also have had a couple of Uniden phones over the years with no significant problems. My recollection of the initial charging backs up everything already said by other members. Misty :) |

| 623588 | 2007-12-23 10:16:00 | I go through a fair few cordless phones at work. They get broken & it's not the phones fault they get dropped or run over. Panasonic sell a really good one, forget the model, but JB HiFi got them for $39 in New Lynn. I've tried Uniden & they're all rubbish compared to the Panasonic |
