| 780597 | 2009-06-08 11:29:00 | I have some VHS tape that i wanna convert and save to DVD so when the tapes wear out i still have a digital copy of it. I would like to preserve the quality of VHS when converting to DVD. Yup i know VHS quality is not good to begin with but i just wanna make sure i dont loose quality during conversion. What hardware or software do i need for this. I dont wanna buy those bulky DVD+R player that has VCR built in so u could do direct recording. Someone mentioned to me getting tuner card for PC to connect to VCR RCA connection slots. Are there more easier and cheaper way of doing this Thanks |

| 780599 | 2009-06-08 19:35:00 | Here are two ways that work well: 1 - If you have (access to) a digital camera and it allows passive pass-through, it will convert and digitise your VCR's analog output so you can store the results on a (preferably second) hard drive. Yields excellent results. 2 - For this you'll need a little converter box such as a Canopus ADVC 110 (desktop.grassvalley.com) for high-quality analog/digital video conversion. If you have a solid, reasonably fast PC, this device will convert with virtually no dropped frames. You can buy them in NZ, sometimes on TradeMe. Excellent results. When you're done you can sell it again :) Cheers. |

But time consuming, for customization, 2nd pass, etc. There are software's, but many today require purchase, and/or require free combination software.
