623929 2007-12-22 07:24:00 Do you have a Drivers Licence?

Nup, I had a medical reason, I couldnt drive.

I had to be drug-free (prescribed drugs) for 5 yrs.

Was on drugs for 25 yrs.

Long ago.

I could a get licence now, but its just too expensive.

I'll either catch a bus outside the back door / across the road, or walk

623930 2007-12-22 07:32:00 Good for you Speedy. I know so many people that when I tell them to bus, bike or walk to work, they laugh their ass off. Yet they continue to spend money on parking and fuel, as well as other car costs, when they could get to and from work everyday for a couple of bucks.

I guess you gotta be speedy to be without a car though. (lame, I know)

623931 2007-12-22 07:36:00 lol, yer I'm used to it now.

I used to go from here (Mt Eden) to Papakura by bus to work.

A nice 1 hr ride, or 15-20 mins, if it was via the motorway.

It was good, coz my job reimbursed me for my monthly pass, which was $120 then.

623932 2007-12-22 08:13:00 I dont believe the labour govt should ban radar detectors, what will be next will they try and take guns off us?
I will be watching who votes for this, my MP is Key he wont get my vote again if he supports this nazi book burning banning carry on.
I dont have or never had a radar detector and I dont speed.
My theory on trucks is drive them at 80 kph max and you use less fuel and less wear and tear on drive train and tyres and brakes. It also gives you a safety margin to avoid dumb ass drivers doing dumb things
I had a 98 Ford Tragic van turbo model, everyone said man watch these Tragics they are nothing but trouble. The gearbox goes on them, diff blows ass, turbo craps out, fuel injection pump, timing belt breaks at 60k the computer smokes it self. Everyone of these items except belt( but when belt breaks it takes out the valves and pistons) costs over 3k just for part alone.
What bull**** I drove it at 80 kph for just over 400k, my franchise made me me change vehicle in that time it cost a 75 dollar ball joint.
Gave it away to Party Bus as a breakdown vehicle.
I dont speed because I have worked out it dosent make much difference.
When I was a young hoon on my motorbike I remember a trip from Woody valley to CHCH doing way over 100 mph but stopping for a ciggy breaks. A Morry thou left at the same time and at Woodend why having a durry the Morry beatles past.

623933 2007-12-22 08:20:00 If you don't speed then you have no worries - thats the only reason people use them.

623934 2007-12-22 09:40:00 Am I the only one who owns a RD? radium (8645)
623935 2007-12-22 09:49:00 Am I the only one who owns a RD?

You may be currently the only one to Admit owning one :xmouth: :p

623936 2007-12-22 10:06:00 My father owns one. It's just given me an evil idea.

That suction pad that the RD sticks to on the windscreen, leave it on, but remove the RD itself. If he gets caught, by an officer and asks for the detector, the officer needs to prove it's in the car before he can ticket him.

And like Speedy, I don't drive. I don't have a license. And I'm 24. :xmouth: But I go local. To Manukau City or Sylvia Park.

Knowing my luck, I'd drive like an old lady. Or put the wrong foot on the wrong pedal.

623937 2007-12-22 18:32:00 I think they are great,though I do not have one.

Anything to stop the blood suckers extracting more blood.

It's the pinkies who are against them. Those that know better than we do what we want.
